The CueState app · In design

A communication copilot for teaching movement.

Not a class planner, not a video library, not another thing to study. Something happens in class, you ask CueState, it answers in the method, you try a different intervention next time and tell it how that went. Over weeks it learns how you teach, and the guidance gets more yours.

01 · Before

Set my state

Four quick questions about today's room, your modality and how you walked in. A sixty-second teaching brief comes back, with one thing to try.

02 · Teach

Make this CueState

Paste the cue you keep saying. Get it back in plain, sensory, image and minimal forms, with a note on why the original was failing.

03 · Reflect

Twenty seconds after class

One voice note about what happened. Over weeks the app finds your patterns, and each Monday gives you a single focus and a CueState score.

The first version

Five things, done properly.

The retention thesis is simple: ordinary fitness apps are abandoned in a month, and CueState only earns a place on your phone if you reach for it repeatedly around real classes.

Like a communication toothbrush, but less depressing.
  • Pre-class brief

Modality, room, state, outcome. One brief, one experiment for today.

  • Cue translator

Jargon and generic instruction rewritten in four registers, fatigue-ready.

  • What do I say when

Real class scenarios: the late arrival, the person who refuses regressions, the room that has gone flat.

  • Post-class reflection

Twenty seconds of voice. Patterns over time, not a diary.

  • Weekly CueState score

Calibration, clarity, adaptability, challenge, connection, state leadership. One focus a week.

Later

  • Voice and video review of a recorded class: cue density, filler, jargon, defined success criteria
  • Rehearsal mode with simulated clients: the anxious beginner, the overconfident regular, the injured returner
  • A class energy map from arrival through peak to closure
  • A longitudinal teaching profile that follows you across studios
  • A team dashboard for studios

Deliberately not

  • Not a workout library
  • Not class programming or a timer
  • Not booking, CRM or payments
  • Not generic fitness content

Those markets are crowded and well served. CueState is the layer none of them have: the communication and the state of the person leading the room.

The first builds go to instructors who teach every week and will tell us plainly what did not help. Pricing is not decided. A free tier is planned.
